Beth Green: I dreamt a cardboard rocket Poem

I dreamt a cardboard rocket ...

a poem by Beth Green

I dreamt a cardboard rocket....

I dreamt last night of distant stars,
Of a galaxy and satellite
Of all the planets I would see
On my very special maiden flight

I dreamt of take off, countdown begins
5, 4, 3, 2, 1
My stomachs just been left behind
As we launch toward the sun.

I dreamt I left earth way behind
A solar system to explore
In deepest darkest wondrous space
And beyond it so much more.

I dreamt a cardboard rocket took me there
Glinting sliver in the sun
It would bring me safely home again
When my space adventures done.
