I dreamt a cardboard rocket ...

a poem by Heather Iveson

I dreamt a cardboard rocket,
Flew down to earth one day.
The aliens inside it,
Had quite a lot to say.

One was called Buddy Blue,
The other was named Ruby Red.
But both the little aliens,
Had stars upon their heads!

Buddy Blue shook my hand,
And said, "Well how do you do?"
Ruby Red just giggled and laughed and said,
"Do you like our rocket it's very, very new!"

We sat and had a tea party,
On my bedroom floor.
We ate lots and lots of buns and cakes,
And drank fizzy pop galore.

When it was time for them to go back home,
We hugged and said goodbye.
I asked them if I would see them again?
And they said, "Why yes, just watch the sky!"
