Ruth Oates: I Dreamt a Cardboard Rocket Poem

I dreamt a cardboard rocket ...

a poem by Ruth Oates

I dreamt a cardboard rocket
Flying through the sky.
I dreamt we were on it,
Zooming up high.

We clung on very tightly
To the rather flimsy wall.
We knew we were safe
And not about to fall!

We travelled all day long
Whizzing past the stars.
We stopped by the planets
And had tea on Mars.

What fun our school would have
If this was not a dream.
We'd love a cardboard rocket
To join our jolly team!
