I dreamt a cardboard rocket ...

a poem by Sian Maguire

I dreamt a cardboard rocket took off into the sky
The noise it made was so loud
They didn't hear me cry
They'd left me here on earth you see
I was meant to go
To visit brave new worlds
And to let the others know
What lay beyond the distant stars
What new planets might be found
Was there new life out there?
New countries to be crowned?
The adventures I was meant to have
The things I should have seen
But wait, I can still do this
After all this is my dream!
