Lauren Mcguiffe: If i had a castle, poem about a cardboard castle playhouse

If I had a castle ...

a poem by Lauren Mcguiffe

If I had a castle it would truly be just mine,
to guard and keep and be a secret place to hide.
It's where I'd put my treasures, my most precious things of all.
Especially my teddies no matter how big or small.

I would surround it with lots of flowers, pinks, reds, and greens,
and as the sun shines on them I'll see my castle gleam.
My mummy says I'm a princess so I think it's only right,
that a castle made from pink cardboard is where my head will lay at night.
